Page size limiter, (adjustable?)

Hello Tom

I would like a function in Zulupad to automaticaly create a "page 2 of original, page 3 of original.....etc" whenever a pre-defined number of lines is entered on to "original page".

If the pre-defined number of lines was adjustable it would make ZuluPad capable of being changed so as to match available system resources.

One of my machines has Gb's of RAM and cpu GHz and handles long pages well. The whole rest of my system is made up of x86 machines only modestly endowed with RAM. They slow right down as lines per page approach 200, 500 is nutso to edit or copy from.
It seems the Zulu file itself can be very large without affecting system speeds much, but .........It's Weird to me.

I have no need to know why things are the way they are if I know how to work around the problem easily, which I do. Manualy creating new page 1..2.... becomes problematic if I max out the clipboard for instance. ZuluPad accepts the paste, however editing within the page and cutting it up into manageable pieces is sometimes so slow as to be prohibitively discouraging .
yours
RE: Saving image in ZULUPAD Pro

I'm not sure. How are you inserting the images? Are you pasting them in or loading them from disk? What version of Windows are you using?

Thanks,
Saving image in ZULUPAD Pro

Hello,
I have just started using zulu pro (mainly for the images). And I am having trouble saving the image. I can insert it without a problem. I have tried saving the doc before leaving the page but everytime I open the doc the images are gone. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the help in advance.
RE: Iphone app???

Just digging this up as I am really keen on getting my zulu data on my iphone and Tom hasnt got around to writing zp for iphone yet

Thought I would post my results as it may help someone else down the track.

There are a handful of wiki apps out there now but I wasnt able to find one to meet my needs.

Requirements - I obviously wanted to be able to view my zulu files and it would have been nice to be able to edit on phone and have some way to sync back to the desktop.

Some were able to provide sync via a web app for your desktop browser. Others allowed you to point your browser directly to your phone.

I wasnt able to find one that would import the zulu file or zulu html export. I was not even considering text files !

The (non-free) apps that I found were;

mobile wiki server X
trunknotes
mywiki
wikitouch
springnote

There may well be other apps as I find the appstore search a little inconsistent.

The closest was springnote. It would import the zulu html file but the formatting was out and it wouldnt follow the links....

Note that I didnt buy any of these apps, just read the doco and was able to test the web UI with springnote.

My solution ?

For now, I am exporting my zulu files to html and then using 'files lite' to put the zulu html files on my iphone. They view and work fine but you need to zoom each page as the text starts very small...also there is no way to update on the phone and sync. But it is free and you get what you pay for !

Tom, when you write zulu for iphone that syncs to the desktop you will clean up !

You could probably do this by programatically editing the XML file?

RE: Is ZuluPad indexed by Windows Search?

That was my thought, but nothing comes up in a search. Perhaps Windows Search won't look at a file, even if text, with an odd extension like *.zulu
....
_____________
EDIT: I found that Windows Search does not index ZuluPad files by default, but can be modified to do so. See "How can the index be expanded to include more file types?" at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/desktopsearch/technicalresources/techfaq.mspx . I now have content indexed ZuluPad!

Why would it not be indexed? Zulu files are simple text, XML files, easily readable by an indexing program. Try a Windows search for some specific content you know is in a your Zulu file, and see if it hits.

RE: Spell Check

Spell check and grammar check would be handy but I'd settle for just spell check as an integrated feature. Currently I'm using a copy and paste to DocPad for spell check, but I will give TinySpell a try.

Thanks! Yep, the file format is XML based, so you can open it in any text editor.
